Vladimir Kagan (1927–2016) was a seminal German-American furniture designer celebrated for his biomorphic, curvilinear, and sculptural mid-century modern pieces. Born in Germany, he apprenticed under his cabinetmaker father and studied architecture at Columbia University. His comfortable, sinuous sofas and chairs became 20th-century icons sought after by museums and celebrities worldwide.
