Spurtle

$13.00

OriginatingåÊin Scotland in the 15th C, it is a turnedåÊwood implement for sauces, broths and porridge.

The key reason for using a Spurtle is to prevent lumps forming during the process of cooking of porridge. Due to its cylindrical shape, the Spurtle allows the oats to be stirred and whisked without the dragging effect of the head of a wooden spoon. Not only does this prevent lumps, the smaller surface area also prevents the porridge from sticking to it.

Ours arrives from the shores of EnglandåÊand each has it own little tag explaining what this very traditional tool is for!
